ComPlan Networks

The ComPlan Program is a transformative vehicle for South LA residents to take on the historic racism and disinvestment in their communities, to secure jobs in community change organizations, and to provide a model and set of lessons learned for the establishment of similar academies in cities across the country. To this end, we have developed key local, regional and national networks that support our work.

LOCAL NETWORKS

We partner with many organizations, agencies and institutions to provide a wholistic approach to equipping and empowering people in participating in community change.

HIGH SCHOOL STRATEGY: We operate the ServiceWorks program with several high schools in South Los Angeles that introduces 21st century workforce skills through community development skills and community service.

NATIONAL NETWORKS

The Community Learning Partnership (CLP) is a national network of community change studies programs, based in community colleges in partnership with local nonprofit and civic organizations. Our mission is to develop a diverse workforce to address injustice and inequality, and to improve the quality of life in low-income communities. We reach out to low-income students and people of color who may not otherwise gain exposure to the career possibilities in organizing and related fields.

Working in collaboration with national CLP and Los Angeles Trade Technical  College in Cupertino, California, We is helping launch similar community college partnership programs in Oakland and Fresno. The first step in this work is to identify and bring together key leaders within each community along with the local community college. These partnerships then design and implement the certificate and/or Associate Degree programs in those local sites.
